Repose of Very Reverend Fr Macarius Wahba.Christ is risen!I am in deep shock and sadness at the sudden repose of Very Reverend Fr Macarius Wahba in Melbourne this morning. This blessed hegumen was my former vicar of the Diocese of Melbourne. He was more than a vicar and he was more than a priest. In fact he was one of the most faithful and loyal clergymen that I had ever met or served with. He was more than this too, he was a dear friend whom I respected and loved with all my heart. I knew him from the 1980’s when we went on a youth trip together to Egypt. We worked together on so many projects, many times into the early hours of the following morning. He was a true humble servant of God, who never raised his voice. I can’t contain my emotions right now.May the Lord repose his pure soul in the bosom of our holy fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. May the Lord grant comfort to his wife Christine, to his dear mother, mama Fayza and to his brother Joseph Wahba and to all his loved ones.May the Lord support us as He has supported you and you are now flying with wings of an eagle to Paradise. My holy father, I ask that you pray for my weakness that the Lord may strengthen me in this wilderness of life as He has strengthen you. Enjoy Paradise with no more suffering and rest in peace with all the angels and saints.
