His Holiness participated in the Victory for Jerusalem Conference organized by El-azhar for the next two days with the participation of representatives of 86 States.
The Pope delivered a speech at the opening session of the conference, along with a number of leaders of Islamic and Christian religious institutions:
– The great Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar
– Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
– Dr. Olaf Fix Tavet, Secretary General of the World Council of Churches
– Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League
The following also spoke at the opening session:
– Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen, President of the State of Palestine
– Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States
